Abstract Palette

The abstract palettes are rooted in the manifesto of abstract expressionism in the eyes of a modern society. In his first years living in NYC as a foreigner from Ecuador, Jijon felt attracted to the urban textures of the city like the scratchy paper on the walls and the subway billboards peeling off incongruous layers of advertisements. He searched for urban abstract masterpieces created by the city without author.

In the process of making his own work, his interest in his own organically produced works of texture and color created during the production of his paintings culminated in this series of palette sculptures.
